Fibre Fabrication Facility

Ultra-sturdy (fiber-) optic components and ultra-compact lasers are essential resources for many planed experiments within the scope of HITec, as they have a very compact layout and at the same time show a very high efficiency. The fiber-drawing apparatus allows the development and fabrication of radiation-resistant optical high performance fibers for an employment in space and a variety of laser applications.

The availability of these radiation-resistant fibers will enable the investigation of terrestrial and extra-terrestrial clocks and inertial sensors and will lift the detection of gravitational waves as well as quantum sensor technology on to a new level.
